Your mission
Compose a piece of music (between 45 seconds and two-minutes long) depicting the moment a new universe is discovered.
We’re looking for a composition that tells a discovery story. Whether the discovery is good/bad/scary/hopeful is up to you!
To help you in your mission, we’ve provided a free sample library as a source of sonic inspiration
(available for download within SINE).
The judges will be looking for five elements in the winning compositions:
- Clever or nice use of the samples provided
- Illustrates the theme
- Originality
- Sound design
- Good mix quality
You can use any other tools you want — sample libraries, live instruments, field recordings, or whatever else you have in your studio.
How to get the samples
The samples, actually a free library, are in the SINE Store under the name ‘Discovery Competition’. The collection contains four instruments. If you haven’t downloaded SINE, simply head to getsine.com and click ‘download’ for either Mac or Windows. If you already have SINE installed, you can download the competition sample library within SINE. Alternatively you can add it to your account here and download it via SINE later.
Please note: The samples are derived from single instruments within ‘Modus—Jeff Russo’.
