Color your sound
Set the atmosphere with two distinct playing styles, each with its own extensive set of articulations for every instrument. It’s easy to shift between moods to construct dynamic performances.
Red mood
Hot, loud, and exciting. Fire up a red mood to deliver captivating solos and energetic parts for uptempo jazz, rock, funk, or any pieces that demand punchy, assertive lines.
Blue mood
Cool, soft, and mellow. Dive into the blue mood for slower jazz, soul, blues, pop ballads, or tracks that need a relaxed feel and smooth textures.
Upfront sound
Each sax was recorded in the solo booth at Berlin’s Teldex Studio for a direct, dry, and detailed sound. Mixable mic positions let you fine-tune the tone. A comprehensive set of articulations—including jazz scoops, swells, falls, growls, and multiple vibratos—helps you deliver nuanced, expressive parts.
About the legato styles
Play straight out of the box with adaptive legato—play moderately, and you get an expressive, slurred legato. Play faster and you’ll automatically get faster legato transitions.
A single velocity layer for maximum expressiveness
Instead of recording fixed p, mf, and f layers, the musicians were free to follow their instincts in choosing the best dynamic for a solo part. This gives rise to lively, dynamic long notes in different styles. While higher velocity leads the instrument to play a subtle crescendo, playing more softly results in a slight decrescendo. By using a single velocity layer, we reduce any phasing effect to a minimum.
