Berlin Series
Berlin Percussion
The Berlin Percussion series is yet another major addition to the overall Berlin series. Widely renowned for its flexibility, attention to detail and extensive articulation sets, this series was recorded at the Teldex Scoring Stage in Berlin with first-call musicians from world-famous orchestras.
The Berlin Percussion collection boasts a whole host of new approaches and features, but it is above all its distinct sound that sets it apart.
All instruments are recorded in their natural positions in the sublime acoustic environment of Teldex, famous for its perfectly proportioned reverb. As a recording space, it strikes a perfect balance: dry enough to provide the necessary flexibility for productions and wet enough for its natural acoustics to blend all the orchestral instruments together as one entity.
With Berlin Percussion, we continued to explore the multiple instrument concept that allows users to create their own unique percussion ensembles – for example choosing between seven different snare drums or four sizes of gran cassas. All of which are sampled individually and rich in details and articulations. The uniform mapping structure and articulation set make it easy to stack instruments on top of one other.
All articulations and instruments are preserved in their natural volume balance. For instance, it is now possible to switch from one snare drum to another without making changes to the arrangement.

The instruments in the Berlin Percussion series offer a whole new range of dynamics – and with CAPSULE, we were able to create perfectly smooth transition curves between all these dynamic layers, thus coming as close to the real instrument as possible. The exquisite attention to detail and the wide range of articulations and mallets are what have enabled Berlin Percussion to raise the bar for orchestral composing tools for the foreseeable future.
